Magical Shining Ball 7

Design a dark magic ball with a shine effect in the ball itself.

1. Create a new document (500*500).

2. Fill the background with #000000 using the paint bucket tool.

3. Add a lens flare on the current layer with the settings from the screenshot (filter – render – lens flare).

4. For now, you should have something simple like this.

5. Now disort it like this (filter – disort – polar coordinates – polar to rectangular).

6. The next step is to rotate the whole image (edit – transform – rotate 180°).

7. And in the last stap we repait step 5 but disort is with rectangular to polar instead of polar to rectangular (filter – disort – polar coordinates – rectangular to polar).

8. This last step is not necessary! I duplicated the layer and changed the blending mode for the new layer to achieve these effects!

I can’t click on the option polar coordinates (filter – disort – polar coordinates – rectangular to polar).

Hello, I guess you’ve done something wrong… Does it still happens when you try the tutorial a second time? And is the right layer selected… I hope you can make it work since this is a very nice effect ;-) !

Nice and simple tutorial. I tried it with several colors instead of black, but the dark colors are better. The ball stands out in 3D.

I tried it with several colors too. And yes, darker are better. Nice tut, keep them coming.
